Geochron Australia Refurbishment Program

  After 7 or so years your unit may benefit from a refurbishment. The two main determinates of this need is, how many hours a day the lights of the unit are left on and if the unit is in mounted in a dusty environment.

The first thing to do if you would like to have Time And Motion (sole Australian service agent) work on your Geochron is to check the age of the unit. You can tell the age of your piece by looking at the first 4 digits of the units' serial number. These are located on the back bottom of the Geochron in the middle. The first 4 digits represent the month and year the Geochron was produced. For example a serial number 9602‐34567 it was produced in in 1996 and in the month of February.

The second is to see if you have the original packaging that the unit came in. The Geochron is a precision handmade instrument that has packaging that is designed, tested and insured, to keep your unit safe during transport. If you do not have the original packaging, you will need to call us. We will sell you the required packaging for $69.95 (plus shipping). We will not accept units back for refurbishment that are not shipped using these factory approved materials.

Once the age of the unit and the packaging materials are taken care of you will need to call Time And Motion for a return authorization form. This completed form will help us process your unit and get it back to you as soon as possible.

Please fill out this form completely and place a copy in with your unit for return. Failure to do this will cause delays in the processing of your request.

The prices below are based on over 30 years of service work. Occasionally a unit will come into the workshop with freight damage or a preexisting condition that does not allow us to stay within these prices, but those cases thankfully are rare and obvious. If this event does occur we will contact you with a specific price for the additional repairs and we will not proceed until you have authorized the additional costs. The prices below are the costs for complete refurbishments of units only. Our experience indicates that repairing some part of the time piece while leaving cleaning etc for another time, more often than not leads to an unsatisfactory results and high shipping costs.

The standard refurbishment takes 3 to 4 weeks to complete and includes a thorough cleaning of maps, new map guide lines, a new diffuser and shading and reed sleeve assembly, as well as cleaning, lubrication and recalibration of your unit.

The repaired unit carries a 180 day limited warranty starting on the day we ship your Geochron back to you. If you have an under warranty repair claim,the cost of sending your unit to us and the cost of returning the unit to you are not covered by the warranty.These costs are the responsibility of the customer.The payment information you provide on the form will only be charged when the work is completed and is ready to ship back to you. The unit will be insured and sent via TNT road freight (or similar method approved by you and us) and these charges including GST will be added to the prices below to arrive at your total charge. Please ask us for a quote to insure and send your unit to your post code.
